Theo từ điển Oxford, increase là “to become greater in amount, number, value, etc.; to make something greater in amount, number, value, etc” (Sự gia tăng trong số lượng, con số, giá trị,..).

Ví dụ:

• The birth rate of this region increased by 12% last year (Tỉ lệ sinh nở của vùng này tăng 12% năm ngoái
• This region had a 12% increase in the birth rate percentage last year. (Vùng này có 12% gia tăng trong tỉ lệ sinh nở năm ngoái.)

Cấu trúc: Increase + in + something: Sự gia tăng trong cái gì đó

Ví dụ: This factory saw an increase in the production cost. (Nhà máy này đã thấy sự gia tăng trong giá sản xuất.)

Increase + of + something/percent: Sự gia tăng bao nhiêu

Ví dụ: The class had an increase of 10% in the students’ points. (Lớp học có sự gia tăng 10% trong điểm số của học sinh.)

Increase (Động từ) + by/to/from

Cấu trúc: Increase + by + something: Tăng bao nhiêu

Ví dụ: The price of this chip bag has increased by 15%. (Giá của gói bimbim này đã tăng 15%.)

Increase + to + something: Tăng đến bao nhiêu

Ví dụ: The price of this doll will increase to 50% next month. (Giá của con búp bê này sẽ tăng 50% vào tháng sau.)

Increase + from + something: Tăng từ bao nhiêu

Ví dụ: This product’s price has seen a significant rise, increased from 10k to 15k. (Giá của sản phẩm này đã tăng đáng kể từ 10k lên 15k.)

Tổng hợp các cụm từ thông dụng với increase 

• on the increase: ngày càng tăng

Ví dụ: The world’s population is on the increase. (Dân số thế giới đang ngày càng gia tăng.)

• increase investment: đầu tư tăng

Many people will increase investment in this part of land. (Nhiều người sẽ gia tăng đầu tư trong mảnh đất này.)

• increase output: tăng sản lượng

Ví dụ: This factory will increase output in the future. (Nhà máy này sẽ tăng sản lượng trong tương lai.)

• increase production: tăng sản phẩm

Ví dụ: As the company grows, they will increase production.

• increase rapidly: tăng nhanh

Ví dụ: The price of this candy bar will sure increase rapidly

• increase the size: tăng kích thước

Ví dụ: By demand, they will increase the size of their products.

• increase resistance: tăng sức đề kháng

Ví dụ: You need to increase your resistance by working out.

• increase speed: tăng tốc độ

Ví dụ: Usain Bolt increased his speed mainly by training.

• increase steadily: tăng đều đặn
• increase the value: tăng giá trị

Ví dụ: You have to invest in this apartment in order to increase its value.

• increase the number: tăng số lượng

Ví dụ: China is trying to increase the population again.

• increase spending: tăng chi tiêu

Ví dụ: To make profit, they will have to increase spending.
